The 2008 Ypulse National Mashup is just a week away, and I wanted to share some news that I think will make this year's event even more dynamic and interactive. Meebo, the Web's live communications platform, has signed on as our official "chat room" sponsor. This means that there will be a "back channel" live chat happening during our event. We are creating a Meebo room just for Ypulse Mashup attendees to discuss issues raised by our speakers and ask questions during the event. As if you needed one more reason to register.....
The Meebo room above showing the grey type turned to black as soon as it became 'live' (in other words, when you begin to leave a comment in the thread)
Type color was definitely a FAQ issue in the forum, as folks observing vs. participating had a hard time reading at first...lots of Meebo newbies besides me in the forum! ;-)
I'm (shown above)on the thread as 'multitasking mama' and wrote about my first Meebo 'back room chat' experience on Shaping Youth today: http://www.shapingyouth.org/blog/?p=1900
I think overall it was a successful feedback experiment, with considerable potential for refining 'best practices' in diff. venues/settings...
If any of you are 'Meebo pros' pls. share any feedback on tips for teens, uses that work best, teen librarian input, etc. 'k? Tx, --Amy
